I miss you, tenderly. Patiently.
This wait on my heart is crushing.
But you are my Strong Tower, my Powerful Defender.
Not to mention my Lover Who Whispers Softly.

Startled awake again by lips upon my face
Only to find my bedside empty.
Despite, I can taste your lipgloss
As the flavor waltzes in my mind.
Slow dancing as we sway to our heartbeat.

Fingers and your palm catch my inattentive mind
When I lay day sleeping on the lumpy couch.

I remember the scent of thunderstorms
And the song in your voice as you dried my face.
You smelt like rain and I wanted to drink you entirely.
To open my mouth and have you pour down my throat
As I recited “When in doubt, pinky out.” between swallows.

My blue eyes have shed their salty seas
To be gathered from my shirt later.

I miss you, tenderly. Patiently.
But not as much as I love you, openly. Ceaselessly.

For now, my tears will have to say what I cannot. I love you. I'm sorry I ever let you leave.
