She felt dread pooling in her stomach
As the numbers on the scale climbed
And she wanted so bad to stop it
But the pain in her ribcage
reminded her that she wasn't allowed to lose weight
or even consider pushing away her plate
When it was still half full
She danced along the pipedream
As a toothpick ballerina
flaunting her collarbone
As if it were some precious treasure
And she whispered a prayer
to a porcelain god
"Please...
teach me
to be
beautiful"
