I witnessed the sunsets suicide
For the last time
A lemon cookie drowning in berry treacle
May my ash
be confectioners sugar
on wedding cakes
a sweet taste in your memory

He's mixing signals
like stiff drinks
malignant roulette
buying time
with a pair of kings
But lady luck isn't on my side
and the slot machines are getting old
I'm leaving Vegas

I've donated
my pennies and prayers
to the charity plate

I don't need them
Where I'm going

The sun's suicide, like a lemon cookie drowning in berry treacle... curse the west. Perhaps there's a moon over Bourbon Street tonight?
