By the time you read this
Ill be gone
just a memory engraved in the artic sky
by tree limbs
and unkept promises

content with the silence
from sunrise to sunset
...straining to hear the patter of hoofs

Until the chill crept thru me
like a malignant tumor

Icicles snapped from the gutters...
winter relinquished his weapons

I crumpled to the earth
like a lost child
and surrendered my soul to the season

For the seeds of spring scrapped the surface
and my heart was still burried beneath
a melting angel

so it pains me to tell you
by the time you read this
Ill be gone
stitched into a frigid night
bound for glacier peaks
this is where Ill wait for you
,,,with winter

I found that chilling. Which I assume was the desired reaction. Beautiful language, beautiful piece.

I honestly don't know how to respond... it did, indeed, leave me cold. And wondering...

What could make a person truly give up who they are... what is it to 'be gone'? I'm not having the greatest of days/nights, and my mind is getting the best of me. Feel free to ignore me.
