Searching for silence
I soaked myself in a quiet color
My heart can not reflect the calmness
But it does absorb the hue
My eyes see periwinkle blue and pale lavender
But the reflection is of smoldering silver
The gateway to the soul
Sends a warning
A deadly flame burns within
It refuses the colors
For no crayon can erase these scars
No amount of pastels can soothe the screams
The canvas of my mind paints with sinister black
The brush cackles at my feeble tries to hush the violence
All attempts for serenity destroyed
A tinge of broken sienna is all that remains
It leaves me still
Searching for silence
