The voice comes as a whisper
Pen moving to sample it’s thoughts
Words taking shape as quickly as they disappear
Open windows... If but for a moment

Words falling from darkened skies
Leaves like fragile parchments
Falling to the ground
Begging to be caught by something
Someone
Who cares
And feels their sorrow

Some dance without care
At least for a while
They’ve fallen too soon
Caught up in enveloping bliss
Like letters across the ballroom
Circling as the seasons change
Time stops... If but for a moment

The wind changes
Becoming cold
Embracing the night that stole her light
The dry earth welcomes their falling from grace
No seeds will they bring
No love will be sown
No flower ripped out before open

A shadowy figure passing by
Picks up a leaf, to take astride
It crumbles in the stranger’s hand
The spirit too weak for the flesh to understand
The wind changes
But the story’s been read
And the window closes... If but for a moment

Now I feel like dancing under the twilight sky on a cool fall night catching leaves like rain drops...I love your words.
