They faded like the once
Vivid memories
Of a perfect summer
That never was
But I felt the same
Carousels and candyfloss
Holding hands
The arcade
Winning a prize
With the only hope
Of winning her heart
A stolen glance
Hidden smile
The novelty of love
If only infatuation
Felt the same
If but for a moment
Untangling emotions
Like silly string
Fear, doubt
Excitement, wonder
But in the end
Laughter prevailed
All the hallmarks
Of a popcorn romance
But lost to the wind
Our spirits too high
To notice, nor care
I could almost feel
The end credits rolling
On a perfect summer
When it turned out to be
Nothing more
Than another bad movie
Shadowy figures
Separating our souls
Turning around
Seeing nothing at all
Fading; hurting; pain; grief
I awoke, but still
I felt no release
Save your tickets!
I’ve already seen fate
No fairytales here
When even in mind
Love is predestined
As another mistake
