The Elusive Hero

I wait, I wait
For the fairytale to begin
Put my life on hold
Keep my breath in
Until he comes
Who he is, I do not know
Yet I have waited for him my whole life through.

Is it him over there or is it you?
Sometimes I think I glimpse him
Reflected in my lovers eyes
But in the morning he is gone
My elusive intangible hero
Always out of reach
A shadow in my mind
Keeping me restless
Keeping me blue
Looking for you.
