Sky wails time piteous cry
Shrieking minutes pass
Hours and days and life
Tumble after seconds ticking
Falling bombs see-saw singing
Days gone by

Draw our curtains closed
Winter fire burned low
Ember whisper promise
Prophet shadows
On the wall
In heads bowed solemn

Gaudy flowers burn above
Humble gutter stars wishing fancy
Hollow oaths forsaken
Champagne spit
Cigarette prayer one foot
Two feet

And then forever

how ghastly of me to reply with no initial comment... this is something i would expect to read from a real writer, someone who has nothing else in the world but his pen.. the last 4 lines hit me the most, and i enjoy someone who can keep my attention the enitre piece, and then really pull the trigger at the end...

sorry I was drunk, but it was well warranted. I like this peace, sober, cheerful, sober.

the voice of this shifts so smoothly, the second stanza like the softest of whispers... to an ending that comes out bold.... nicely done

"Champagne spit"...that really struck me for some reason. Well done.
