New Orleans Blues at Bourbon and Orleans
And is this not the bones
Of old New Orleans?
Liquor ghosts and cigarette smoke
Jazz flows and rain falls
Black water in the gutters
And black water is her hair
Strolling casual past
For Bourbon ‘neath
Gas lights black balcony rails
Ever the call of old water
Sky and river river river
One weeps to see us going
The other
He doesn’t even notice
When we’re gone
