Black Coffee
Crossroad blues
Laughing man
Black and red grin
Seashell eyes
“Slip the noose!”
He laughs at me
All roads lead to the
Horizon
Dancing daughter
Swirls skirts
White on Black
Rain howls at me
Knife hand smiles
“Drink deep!”
She sings to me
All rivers run to the
Sea
Wine in the jug
Old man shelters
Neath palm leaves
Ancient smile
Eyes like promise
“You’ll see!”
He confides in me
All fires burn to
Ash
Whitewashed cross
Silent stand among
Black stones writ
Those who’ve come
And gone away
“You’ve come home!”
He greets me
All children return to
Mother
When the walk is done
