I was opening my book
Just before you sat down.
I bowed my head, closer to the page,
And looked at you ‘neath my brow.
Our Arms Almost Touched.

Class was just starting
As you took a seat.
I dropped my pencil,
But you didn’t miss a beat.
Our Arms Almost Touched.

You bent and picked it up,
And placed it to my right.
I thanked you with a stutter,
But your smile was still polite.
Our Arms Almost Touched.

The rain was then pouring
In time for me to walk home.
I felt your jacket on my shoulders,
A shelter from the cold.
Our Arms Almost Touched.

I turned from the clap of thunder.
That’s when our eyes met.
My eyes were fearful as I shivered,
But not because I was wet.
Our Arms Almost Touched.

Your comforting eyes held mine.
I quickened my breathing.
You slowly crept toward me,
My heart rapidly beating.
Our Arms Almost Touched.

But you didn’t touch me,
Just spoke a few words
Of my health and my beauty,
Both of us smiling,
For love was what we heard.

Never was there a moment I loved so much.
I would even refuse Romeo’s cheek to brush.
Despite the times I had been crushed,
You brought me to life with a rush,
The Moment That Our HEARTS Touched.

Very nice, in this poem it seems like you wanted the happiness felt through a single touch. Very good.
