so much more than one person could be,
but it's
beautiful in its rarity,
and although the world would benefit from you,
I wanna keep you for me


So sometimes I
pretend to cry so that you rush to my side
and I can look into your eyes
and fight back that smile
that I wanna smile
because of the
tranquility that comes over me
when I know that you love me.


And sometimes I lie
when you ask what I feel about you
and what others think about you
and though that may be true
I know it's my fault,
for covering up the things that you do
or would do
if I would let you.

But sometimes you still get
that look on your face
that beautiful look
that I've grown to hate,
when you realize that you are something
more than I give you credit for
and the question marks in your eyes
fall upon me like melting hot rubber
and I know to look away because you know
I can't lie when you give me that eye.

So sometimes I
try to keep you down
just to
keep you around
'cause as soon as you learn how amazing you are
