Disclaimer: I don't do rhyming schemes well, but sometimes I'm struck by the fancy.

Some poets were meant to be happy,
spreading mirth in their bright revelry.
Laughing and loving as they go through their lives,
these poets are nothing like me.
Some poets were meant to be lonely,
for the pen is much bolder than tongue,
and if these poor poets aren't lonely,
the songs from their heart shan’t be sung.
Some poets were meant to be shattered,
on display for the whole world to see,
touching the world with their sadness
as they dole out their sweet misery.
Some poets were meant to be broken,
driven mad by the paths that they take,
so others can see what they’re missing,
and feel good by comparison’s sake.
Some poets were meant to be shadows,
watching o'er your bright world from afar,
describing life’s pain for the masses
who can’t seem to grasp what they are.
I never chose to be a dark poet,
but rather the muses chose me.
I write so you won’t have to suffer
the stark madness in my poetry.
