they blamed it on the rain,
that's the saddest part.
when there could be so much
than just natural causes.

yesterday, when i talked to her,
i didn't see hints, not one, of
desperation, hurt and hopelessness.
but she wasn't the same, i could tell.

it was the way she laughed hard
like she didn't care.
she looked beautiful, ever more so.
a picture of content.
it scared me for a second and then
shrugged my shoulders.

i should be surprised when
i saw it on the news,
when they found her car
down the hill this morning.

everybody blamed it
on the rain.
and i thought she just
got caught up in the
momentum of "come what may".

i just realized this reminds me of that song by the eurythimics (here comes the rain again, fallen on my head like a memory, want to dive into ocean....i love that song)
