(written: forgotten)
i wish it would rain outside
so i could take your hand and
stand you beside me while we feel
the cold autumn rain wash away
the inhibitions crawling beneath
our skulls like meaningless sighs
caught in between the worldly and
the sublime.
i have held your hand long enough
to be certain that the bloodrush
your touch causes will always be
a part of my physiology. just like how
there will always be rose blooms
after the snowflakes.
i know in your mind, you question
me and the forever i promised you
over and over. i feel it in the
cool morning air when my eyes
long to see hummingbirds and i'm
wishing they'd fly up to me and
whisper the secrets you're keeping
from the world. then i'd tell you
it's going to be alright...
because i'm here.
you ask me to spend forever looking
into your eyes, with my hand in yours.
so here, take my hand. grip it tight
and don't let go. but if you do,
i'll stand on your doorstep, waiting for
you to open the door, hand outstretched
and the four seasons etched on my palm
as an indication that the world may change
its form time after time but my heart will
always stay the same, from the first time
i said i love you to the day forever ends.
