Close my eyes and let myself be submerged
in those memories of all the smiles and the words
that fled from my mouth in apprehension
as though your laugh would relieve the tension
And as I see you behind closed eyes
I can remember all those times
Where we shared a smile, shared a bed
You were driven away by the darkness in my head
And I can still see the light
radiate from your eyes
And I can still hear the lies
resonate in my mind
All those times, both good and bad
for those times, I'm still glad
that you were there through it all.
You watched me rise, and left me to fall
prey to those many forboding thoughts
you left me without the light that I sought.
You left me to strangers with leather sofas
helping me to find that strain of hope I
thought I'd lost when I lost you that day
but, you know what they say...
it's always darkest before dawn.
