we lay parallel=flat on our backs
the stars hanging low, so far away in the sky
like thousands of gleaming embers
just waiting to be plucked, like searing petals
he pointed, as he named each one
all the names starting with the letter L
Luke-Lindsey-Lexus-Luis-Lonnie-Liv
Then he .paused.
pointing at the biggest and brightest of them all
that one belongs to you,
what are you going to name it?
My eyes widened, @@ lips parted
in a soft whisper I said,
-"I'll call it L.O.V.E"-
{He laughed and said, "I'll call you cliche"}
I smiled, giving him a swift jab to the ribs
jumped up, flipped my hair back
Screaming the words to my favorite bright eyes song
he joined in, playing the air guitar
I lost my equilibrium
=as he busted out laughing,
handing me the bottle
"I want to be your bird, your yellow bird,
just like the one in the song" I screeched
-I haven't lost you yet, so I'll call you my
curious eyed, golden bird instead-
I frowned, then took another swig.
we few back, allowing the soft earth to embrace us
the ambiance of our surroundings
felt plush, we spoke through small pulses}}}
speaking philosophically, one after the other
our views on life/death
-Just asking why-
We had know clue -why- we laid there
in that cemetery
as long as we did that night
*This will never make any sense to me
maybe it will to you
I still wonder, what it all meant
or if it meant anything at all
*NONE OF WHAT I SPEAK IS TANGIBLE*
-discovering what was n-ever tangible-
I dreamt this
I dreamt him
he doesn't exist
nor do I
but I smile each time
I think of us
See} we're all drawn to
what's not there
what can't be found
what we can't have
or what we've lost
