I live on the edge of a world I cannot reach,
Glistening in all its splendour.
Mocking the forgotten child, looking down upon it.
Tearing out her insignificant heart and throwing it to the wolves
Who devour it and leave her dead inside.

She feels no joy. Her life is sorrow.
She works to maintain a semblance of happiness,
But inside clouds and crepuscule fill her soul
Darkness she can’t escape, and has given up trying.
A creature of the underworld, light flees from her crippled form.

She remembers a time the light graced her skin,
When happiness filled her heart and she was accepted.
Now her heart is held together by $2 sticky tape.
The smile she wears is a mask to hide the pain.
She walks alone, on a path of turmoil and destruction

She is a paradox. She doesn’t want to live anymore,
But she fears the unknown abyss of death.
Her torn broken mind knows that she has little left.
She is slowly loosing who she was every day,
Mutating into a being of sick kismet, lost to all.

She craves the love she once endured,
Sickened by her undying love for a tergiversated man.
Unable to rip him out of her wounded heart, he stays
Destroying her evermore, burrowing to the centre of her being
Torturing her with his faithful hypocrisy and undying derision

She lies in the night, unable to find solace in her nomadic sleep
Her mind is in uproar, and lucidity slowly begins to exceeds her grasp
Her dreams are filled with a cabaret of demons and monsters.
Colours of pain and misery cover the malignant spirits of her nightmare
And songs of tortured regrets and fallen angels fill the air.

She lives to die. She wonders the edge of the life she once had.
Staring in, unable to remember how to return to that luminous existence.
Knowing that she has been forgotten by all those she held dear.
Forsaken by her love who could take no more of her capricious nature
Forsaken by the world, by her family, by her very nature.

I live on the edge of a world I cannot reach,
I see the glistening splendour, just beyond my fingertips.
I feel my mind leaving me, my body transforming
Into the mindless animal of despairing fortune.
Consciousness leave me, let the darkness take me over

For pain targets the rational mind and the divided soul
Rob me of them, and the pain shall follow
Torture not this mindless shell, and find another willing victim
Let me become the darkened singer in their nightmares
Free me from my mind and soul, let me be a monster.

It's a nice parrallel between yourself and the girl, whether they are the same or separate. Great imagery in showing that the girl is even separated from herself.

A subtle and dark wish; a deep and rapturing whisper along the edge of a dangerous reasoning. Vivid imagery and and excelling piece of poetry fomr someone I admire both as a friend and a poet.
