I had to go away for awhile yesterday, so I left a part of me behind

I wanted to see you yesterday, but I’m a million miles away
So I sent you pictures where I signed I.L.O.V.E.U. So you’ll always know when I can’t be there to say it.

I was supposed to be leaving yesterday, but I can’t
I have to stay a little longer, that way I can keep you safe where you are.

I was supposed to come back from patrol yesterday, but I didn’t
I never stopped loving you, you know that.

Everyone I know came back yesterday, I’m sorry
Promise me you’ll always wear my dog tags and that I’ll never leave your dreams.
