It was a choice I had to make
Though I volunteered to go
My life, now held in my hands
It was now a question of reflex
The Moon was replacing the Sun
Watching silently her sons
Playing with their guns...
It's all but a game for them
Misunderstanding the reality
For a fictional moment
While I serve my country
So far away from my home
I face up another step of my life
Where I have nothing but a choice
All between him and I.
I stand still, watching him
His unexperienced innocent eyes
Little, hardly holding the weapon
Trying to aim, but waiting
Breathing heavily,
Drops of sweat upon the eyes
Blurring our views, vulnerable
And I end up asking myself...
Should I die, and hope he'll understand?
Or be a monstrosity, to launch a pellet
And end the life of this ignorant game-entitled kid?
It's hard, however, I'm not a monster
I lower my weapon, asking for a blessing
He lower his, and gives me his hand.
