"donning my armor against the horrors of life" by Winter Born

Darkness invades me,
My inner eye snaps shut; Blind.
Laughter, happiness,
Impervious to these things.
My armor is on.

Like a robot now.
Actions completed quickly
Thinking fast; Mind free.
My emotions are asleep.
Pain, a memory.

The strength to go on.
The loss is Justified, right?
The armor blocks pain
Just as it blocks everything
Why should I feel this?

Although it is saddening and tear jerking that the armour protects from everything, at least the pain is only a memory. I agree with Kristy, it is very heart breaking, and I hope you find something to make you remove the armour.
