The dreams return agian.
Fire, blood, screams.
My friends faces on the bodies I remember digging free...
failed them all.

the xplosions knocked us off our feet.
we had been walking to get food.
Nothing to look forward to...
just another MRE...(Meal ready to eat)
crap in a bag, just add water.

The smoke came to us drifting on the prevaling winds of this hell on earth.
slowly moving to make sure that everything was still attached we got to our feet.
helping each other to stand till our hearing returned and the world stopped spinning.
Then the screams made it through the fog.
We ran to the source of the fires.

Another suicide bomb...
the rubble of the builing alive with fire, screams, moans, and pain.

I remember.
I will remember.
And God be damned for that.

war poetry is so emotive and harsh....I'm not ahuge fan but Wifred Owen and others really captured the horror of it in their own syllabic and onomatopeia(?) of the sounds and feel

and so the cycle continues with the 21st century's 'war on terrorism'...since when was 'civilisation' not at war with something/someone....it's volatile and sheer madness, but poetry can air voice to it, where politicalrhetoric falls flat

and so you've shown me the side I'd rather turn my eyes from, wouldn't we all....I'm sorry you're in a position to experience that because of our collective folly....profound poem - Col.
