"The Man I Met In Town." by Griffin

There was a man I met in town.
Who knew this dream he helped to drown.
It was about peace and love,
and sweet freedom, like a dove.
And he asked me if I wanted to be down.

And to this man, I said, “No way.
For killing this dream I’d have to pay,
for all the sins and evil,
and arrogance, like Evil Knievel.
That comes into this world every day.”

The man said more, but didn’t want a fight.
His bark was obviously worse than his bite.
“These commies they come.
They come and they come!
And all they do is party all night.”

“But man,” I said, “if they are right,
who can stop Their dream from taking flight?
Not you or I,
no matter how hard we try,
or if we push will all of our might.”

Now this man he was not down,
atleast with me, or my town.
He still disagreed.
But atleast he was freed,
From wanting my dream to drown.
