I once knew a girl who hated herself
she blotted the sunlight brick by brick
and the wall she built to keep them out
could've been her prison to this day still
and I once knew a guy stayed locked up inside
he ran from love hit by hit
the wall he built to save him from pain
was a prison of his own will
now both of them lived behind their wall
and longed each day for some kinda help
not knowing all the while the answers they seek
lie deep within their own selves
then one day this girl let down her wall
to be hurt again it seemed
but the guy I mentioned let down his wall too
and as lovers they were redeemed
