I HAVE LEARNED THROUGHOUT MY TIME
THAT AS YOU MOVE ON DOWN THE LINE
AT THE END OF EVERY UP-HILL CLIMB
THERE'S A STEEP DOWN-FALL

AND AS YOU MOVE ON DOWN THE TRACK
DON'T YOU KNOW THERE AINT NO LOOKIN'BACK
YOU SHOULD GO AND CUT YOURSELF SOME SLACK
CAUSE ROUND THE BEND IT GOES BACK UP AGAIN

AS YOU TRAVEL 'ROUND YOU'LL LEARN
THERE'S SOMETHIN NEW 'ROUND EVERY TURN
And THIS HERE TRACK MAY STAY THE SAME
BUT THE TRACK OF LIFE WILL ALWAYS CHANGE

THERE ARE HIGHS AND THERE ARE LOWS
AND NOW AND THEN IT MAY GO SLOW
Then IT MAY TOSS YOU TO AND FRO
BUT AT THE END IT SMOOTHES BACK OUT AGAIN

You don't come across the metaphor very often. Well said.
