It was me,
Who saved you.
My eyes you looked into
And found hope.
My voice that spoke
And calmed you.
It was me,
Always me.

You needed me,
And I needed you.
You cried on my shoulder,
And I soaked up the pain.
You let me worry for you,
And I fell in love with your suffering.
It was you,
Only you.

Today I cried,
For you as usual.
I had let you down,
I had made you suffer,
You’re not here this time,
To tell me you’ll be fine.
And now I love the memory.
Of what we use to be.

It's sad and well written. It reminds me of couples in general, when guys say "You look cute/beautiful when you're angry". For some reason people are attracted to others' pain.
