Last night you held me,
Like they do in those old movies.
Lying on my bed with me head on your chest.
As you cradled me gently running your fingers through my hair.
It was so perfect it nearly made me sick.
To be so close to you.
To be so happy in your arms.
Because I know I may very well never know them again.
You'll run back to her again.
And hold her the way you did me.
The only difference is that I hold your heart.
I could crush it at any moment
Because I know you need me
But don't want me.
I wanted to pull away
To sit up and tell you you'd better get home.
But the warmth, the smell, the touch of you
Made me want to stay there forever.
And as I drifted to sleep you said goodbye.
But only until tomorrow.
when it will all start again.
