Insanity lives inside my brain,
loving the feeling, but not the pain.

Bouncing off the padded walls,
voices inside, only I hear their calls.

Remembering the knife piercing his heart,
Uh oh! Here comes the pill cart!

Hiding the lithium under my tongue,
they know, pricked with a needle, OUCH! That stung!

Chained down to my bed,
not knowing if I'm alive or dead.

My eyelids are heavy, I begin to dream,
suddenly awakened by the sound of a scream.

I didn't realize I was the one who screamed,
i thought I was sane, or so it seemed.

Released and sent back to my room,
trying to act normal, but for what? For whom?

Tomorrow has become today and everything repeats like yesterday,
again, I'm restrained until I learn to obey.

I thought I was sane, it just doesn't make sense,
I guess sleeping forever is my best defense.

The end

it reminds me of a sublime song "if he thinks that he can take you from me , gotta be a crazy crazy crazycrazy fool, a crazy oh crazy fool..." but thats just because of the title

Great subject choice! This elicits so much sympathy for the protagonist. Every line is rich in frustration. The repetition of "i thought i was sane" is particularly poignant! Great work
