There is hate breathing in me,
a deep scorch in my chest,
like I've swallowed smoke
from fires burning long
through the years.
Fires I never knew of.

I want to belch it out,
it would be a bomb
exploding in the eyes
of those liars,
those filthy, filthy liars.

I can't imagine how to get clean.
I can't imagine how to breathe deep.
I can't imagine how to be awake
and not turn to stone.
