I wanted all the love.
I wanted to ride the beast
to hell and back,
just like my brothers.
I wanted to be better
than every fool
that was a fool for those boys.
And I, in my hunger,
became the greatest fool of all.

They are drifting off in ghost ships.
My brothers who made my eyes bright,
my fever madness, my thirst endless.
Disappearing into a mist on a sea
so murky, so deep,
I cannot bear to look far.

My brothers have broken my heart.
My brothers plucked me of every feather
and left me freezing in the wind.
I swear to all the gods who watch me,
my son shall be a better brother,
a giant of kindness.
Never shall he bring such a sword
to a tenacious heart that loves him so.

I used to punch my sister in the arm until that fateful day when she gave me a fat lip. You made me feel guilty, good poem. S.
