Lay down my sweet brother
oh, won't you take a rest
lay your head
upon the virgins breast
oh, i love you
but jesus loves you the best
we bid you goodnight

jerry sung it so
you will be with him
when the wind blows
seeking the saviors rest
bleeding clean & flowing free
we complete our quest

laydown my sweet children
oh, do not take a rest
lay down your muddy soul
within the messiah's cleft

oh rest my dear mother
don't try & fool the rest
your warm breast is my place to rest
