I like the creatures of the night
You may think this isn’t right
I’d like to say I’m one of them
Express me in this poem
I think it is enlightening
I hope it isn’t frightening
To know just who or what I am
My life is anything but dim
I hope you look away and say
“I really much prefer the day”
As for all us morbid beings
Who like the things we are seeing
We accept the way we are
Even if that is bizarre
We love the things that you would call strange
Our normalities are quite deranged
I could go on for such a time
Continuing to use this rhyme
Someday it will have to end
Like a whisper on the wind
I only want to open eyes
Though it may lead to my demise
You don’t have to shun the light
Just accept nocturnal rights
