I saw two eyes
Two eyes in utter darkness
Irises like rainbows
Pupils deeper than the sea
I saw these glaring eyes
And these glaring eyes saw me

I can’t say who might own them
Or why they had sought out me
These two eyes gave me comfort
And that’s truly what I need

Demon or angel
Or human or beast
These eyes held all the answers
That anyone might seek

We two had conversations
To be envious to gods
We two had talked like lovers
These two eyes that had found me

I scarcely could believe
How lucky I had been
To discover such a friend
In these two eyes
It felt like sin

To enjoy their company
And their beauty in silence
To delight in their presence
Yes to me it felt like sin

I didn’t want to leave them
And I guessed they felt the same
These eyes I thought had loved me
If I knew it was a game

But soon the eyes had left me
All alone within the dark
I heard their evil laughter
They knew they had left their mark

I cursed these mysterious eyes
I longed for what I thought I’d had
These eyes that had left me empty
That made me feel I might go mad

Now I am always haunted
By these eyes that follow me
I see them while I’m dreaming
But I know they laugh at me

I hate that they enjoy
The anguish I am in
I hate that I don’t know
Where they go and where they’ve been

And I never want to see
Those two cursed eyes again
They had ran away from me
I will run away from them

The beginning intrigued me. I was curious as to whom the eyes belong to. Maybe it's just me but it still isn't clear at the end of the poem. *whispers secretively* I've always been creeped out by disembodied eyes! Weird write.

No, twas supposed to be unclear. They could belong to a past lover or perhaps a mystic beast, no body knows. But I think that is why the character loved them so much, twas the mystery of them. :) Thank you.
