Sweet smelling roses
Rotting purity
Do you drink the blood
That your thorns bid you

Do you come alive at night
Like demons to claim victims
And if I should awaken
In the midst of witching hours
Would you take me away
And feast on tender flesh
Like vampires never quenched

When sweet little girls
Bend to smell your breath
Would they see my bones
That give you perfume

Sweet smelling roses
I know of all your secrets
I know your petals beckon
When their dew reflects the stars
Glitter on crocodile tears
Your rows and rows of thorns
That glisten in the dark
Like newly sharpened teeth

I will not stop to smell your evil breath
Let you eat me whole
I won’t be the bones entangled in roots
But instead I will pick you from the ground
Smile at your screams
Because I know their absurd reasoning
Pluck petals and thorns
Throw away your stems
You will never ever haunt me again

Glad to see your posting regularly again. I liked this piece, I liked both the personification and intimacies created throughout it. Good job.
