I’ll stare into the eyes of death
My instincts say to turn and bolt
A thousand tortures will await
I greet, with open arms, my fate

Drowning in tears and sands of time
In a fog no clearer than mud
I’ll brave into the forests deep
Where creatures in the shadows creep

A sword, a shield, my wits at hand
The beasts and demons in this land
Those eyes that turn my fear to stone
Those hands that make me feel alone

They’re gripping tightly to my form
Squeezing all breath; my eyes forlorn
The struggle’s over, I’ve been beat
Into a light I doth retreat
