Fade
Like the stars at dawn
Cower from the light
Contrasting skies are far more flattering

Shadow of a figure
Ethereal beauty
A ghost of a lover
Essence of a memory

You’re a dreamy phantom
Deceiving youthful knights
Into a lake of souls
Your silvery scales reign

Like clouds of a dreary day
Autumn’s wind will shake the trees
A blanket of leaves and snow
Your kingdom has turned to ice

Caricature of happiness
Your illusory features
So similar to creatures
That formerly you gasped at

Now they’re your kith and kin
You’re a cold queen of hearts
But your army is strong
And you’re not letting down

Let them sleep with demons
Of trivial battles
They all had died in vain
Goddess of discordance

You would attend a masquerade
The only one without a mask
Your horror could fool anyone
Into thinking it is a lie

While they’re hoping for the better
They’re drowning in aspirations
And the air that they used to breathe
Is poisoned to a fatal state

And they are gasping with poise
But you’re pulling all the strings
And would you smile and blush
If they chanced to look your way

You are a royal harpy
But your empire’s falling
Into the dust of sea beds
Where they rest in icy lakes
