Slits of golden sun for eyes
They glare into the darkness
Cast a light of shadows
On the creatures of the night

Do they curl back in fear
In screams of agony
Or is the warmth a welcome thing
In their shallow lives of lies

They swarm like honey bees
To smother the light
Kill it with love and attention
No room to breathe

Gasping, dying, killing, spying
On lovers in their boats of lust
Travel the seven seas
Of deadly sins and heavenly virtues

The war rages on
No winner in sight
The goddess of hell
And the goddess of light

Of womanly wrath
And a mother’s tender care
The child of life
Born with a lifeless stare

Who will raise it
The dust of time
The memory of summer days
When winter cools the heart

In a forest of ice
Melted by the fire
Of family and friends
Protect yourself from good and evil

Drink from a chalice of gold
Feel the wine run down your throat
Choking you with poison
Of the serpent God has sent

Idolize this faceless man
He is your savior is he not
Deliver yourselves of light and dark
And live in a world of grey

Color does not dwell there
In the lifeless place of earth
But in Hell of red
And Heaven in the blue sky

Attend your abject sermons
So that you may be worthy
Is it wearisome to see
When your eyes were born blind

Wounds of the flesh
Punctures of the soul
Never healing as the knives pierce deeper
Killing good and bad

As the dark smothers light
But the light always fights back
Those slits of golden sun
Are torn within a war
