Death may creep upon me
As subtly as dawn
To death it makes no difference
If you are king or pawn

I may rest awhile
And if I do not wake
Mountains will not crumble
The earth it will not quake

Whatever may take me
Heaven or hell
On any mournful thought
You mustn’t dwell

Winter freezes over
And Summer grows too hot
Some may live forever
I know that I will not

So I leave you with these words
To interpret mind and heart
Death has crept upon me
My dear I must depart
