Hushed as lust on locked bodies
Heaven sent
From your lips parted
Your breath sent
To my clasping breath
And the crawl of our skin
That is made of dust
Would be swept aside
As lust, my love. Hushed
In a heartbeat, between systole
And diastole
I wish to love
Soul to soul
Without the mess of bodies
Or the silent fiction
Of a tongue filmed in stasis
I cannot ‘act’, but drowse
In both its forms
So I’ll dream
Between seven measured shifts in time
Snooze on snooze
Heavy lidded lush
Like an actress
Will you catch me singing on a star-springing spa
From the mind of a mouse
Rankled, a louse like inaction.
