time moves on and reasons falter
the changing seasons of your altar
you tried to fly on wing-tipped tides
the scent of sin you cannot hide

despise the pride in your demise
locked inside these deep blue eyes
I've seen you twice but once before
you don't know me, but I need more

if for once you could look ahead
not walk away so fast from my bed
see the world where the sun does shine
prying eyes want to know are you mine?

perhaps tomorrow you will see
that all is not what it seems to be
a stranger follows, stride for stride
can you feel me by your side?

Ive sat deserted on the sand
dig deep; pretending it's your hand
the tide rolls out like a sand-scorched tongue
I want to breathe you in my lungs

secret smiles keep me wanting
my heart's the house your ghost keeps haunting
I promised sunrise you will be mine
and baby, my watch keeps perfect time
