You can cry yourself to sleep tonight, little child
But it won't heal the wounds by morning
I can tell you a fairy tail tonight, little child
But you can never fully escape reality
You can hide under your covers tonight, little child
But the dark will still surround you
I can kiss away your tears tonight, little child
But that won't stop them from falling
You can shut your eyes against the demons tonight, little child
But they will still continue to haunt you
I can hold you tight in my arms tonight, little child
But it won't make the pain inside you go away
You can scream away the terrors in your head tonight, little child
But they'll still be watching you from darkness
I can sing you a sweet song tonight, little child
But will you be able to hear my soothing voice?
You can hug your teddy bear to yourself tonight, little child
But he can't protect you from your fears
I can tell you not to worry tonight, little child
But uncertainty waits for you in the morning
