I laid there staring up at the ugly demon
Which rested upon my ceiling
I recognized it as soon as I saw it
I always recognize it
But I doubt if it ever once saw me
With either one of its eight ugly eyes
I hated the vile creature with a passion
And feared it all the same
In fact, it's only my fear that keeps it alive
I'm too afraid to go near enough to kill it
I hate the way it sits there
For hours unmoving
The quickly crawls away
On it's eight ugly, hairy legs
Into any crevice or crack it finds
Only the Devil's Pet acts that way
So I sit unmoving, staring
As it sits unmoving, staring
Waiting it out
As it waits me out
