I wasn't hers until i saw her
trapped inside the bottle,
I always was the schoolyard savior
so i dove right in and got her

no mistakes

just retakes
of the way i used to see
a faltered form of cancer
of what i was to be

picture me living a blessing

picture me puking in a elevator
heading toward the ground
puncture me; elevate me
to where i can focus now

on the ride alone: a knife
that waits to bring the heat into my skin
the shadow on my back is this
burning, breathing avarice
