when your laying in a hospital bed
you feel helpless
.
.
yet
.
.
you are aware
sometimes
of everything and one around you
your mind is in a daze
closed in by brick wall
listening to the old man complaining on the other side
of the old white curtain
with red and turquoise verticle stripes
they make you want to rip it down
the curtain has torn mesh at the top
held by hooks
so it can slide easily and create a barrier
so people dont stare at you
if you notice
they stare anyways
while your laying there helpless and pail
unable to move with your droopy flooded eyes
that are about to fall out of their sockets from being beaten with tears
nurses touch you with their cold dry hands
trapping all the sick into one building
so they cant escape
feeding them medicine
they dont need
against their will
i wouldnt complain if it were a couple of vikes or morphine
give me that
the very smell of it,
of rubber, latex, and decaying beings that are soiling themselfs
is enough to drive one sick
everything is white to blind you
as the nurse walks in and probes through your flesh
with a needle
tells you to make a fist but you dont have the strength
and your arm just dangles along the bed
oh the aweful linen
so stiff, starch and smells of the cold medicine they put in the dead
it scratches against your skin, itches, but they make you wear it
you dont have the strength to pull it off again, so you wear it anyhow
they wheel you around
not letting you walk or do anything for yourself
.
.
they pick you up
and any time you need to use the facilities
they announce it to the rest of the world to make sure its ok
making you feel either really old or like an infant
.
.
.
.
.
i dread hospitals
