this pounding behind my eyes
for today outracing the beat of my heart
always I'm willing to take a chance
the ending predetermined by my moon and stars
a certain death of today's imaginary love

why I try so hard
feeling I'm meant to live in solitude
I will never understand
clinging so tightly
knuckles white from my grasp on this life

one day
maybe I'll take a deep breath
let go
one day
maybe I'll shed my last tear
be happy
one day

yet how do you measure a day
the number of smiles you bring to others
the fullness of love in your heart
the twists and turns of your chosen road

one day my life will be complete
I will stand proud before myself
declare that I have given it my all
not just sat back and waited
for that "one day" to come
