today I cut myself
a neat slash on my belly
stared in fascination at the blood
welling up slowly
to run in streams over my hips
trail my fingers through it
the pain never comes
my rage never dies

today I cut myself
matching wounds on my thighs
blood running thicker
pooling around my feet
a bee sting of hurt
and my rage remains

today I cut myself
deep into my wrists and ankles
lay back and close my eyes
let my blood run dry
a peaceful numbness settles
my light flickers out
my rage never dies
