Today I lost a friend
yesterday I nailed the final nail in his coffin
tomorrow is the memorial service
attended only by me
to light the candles
read the eulogy
to everyone else the world is as it should be
emptiness inside me depicts the lies you'll never see
my hard cold aweful evil part
all my friends die eventually
each one leaving another tiny hole in my heart
to everyone else they live and breathe
In my lonesome world I seethe
no longer can I feel their presence
so I pack away the memories of their existence
death is a mysterious emotion
contrived of all my human devotion
ten step programs offer brief relief
a temporary bandage for my overwhelming grief
my pain always remains
on my hands dried blood stains
for hours everyday I scrub away my skin
never can I cleanse away my sin
