He romanced me with sugared words.
Letters dripping from between his lips
like drops of honey,
puddling into my besotted brain.
The kisses we shared were intoxicating.
Tangled tongues and bitten lips
leaving me dizzy and dazed.
We spent those months in a haze,
never making the distinction between
day and night.
It was perpetual twilight
behind the closed doors of my room.
Occupied only by intense desire,
and our intolerable hunger
for each other's skin.
Only when the candles softened,
melted into waxen pools,
did satiation come.
We mumbled words of amorous intent,
while the sandman sealed our eyes.
And though our dreams were heavy
and sweet,
I knew it would not last forever.
