A sleek, feline silhouette,
slinks its way along the wall.
Crouching down, ears laid back,
glowing eyes enthralled.
Its master sleeps in the room next door,
unmindful of the mouse.
But furry and ferocious
is the keeper of this house.
Thus leaping from her silent crouch,
she traps it in her jaw.
And pads her way along the hall,
on soft and silent paws.
She cuddles up to her master's side,
and off to sleep she drifts.
Proud and happy and excited to see
how her master likes the gift.
And in the morning when she wakes,
the master leaves her bed.
To the sight, so lovingly left-
A severed mouse's head.
